Sharing The Rhythm of Grace

Sharing The Rhythm of Grace
Debbie and I have lived in South Carolina now for about 10 months. As we approach a new year, we both have new ideas and projects we want to share with you. On this site, I'll talk about The Rhythm of Grace in our spiritual, physical, and social lives. Thanks for joining us!

A new year calls for a new venture! To discover what Debbie and I have planned for 2025, please continue reading this first post here on my new site titled, The Rhythm of Grace.

As you may know, I began writing a weekly meditation (shorter than a sermon, thank goodness!) last October. The scripture I use is the Gospel reading for that Sunday in the Christian Year.

I love the rhythm of following the life of Jesus throughout the year, rather than marking my days by the shopping calendar, the sports calendar, or even the holiday calendar. Believe me, as a survivor of not one, but two heart attacks, both time and rhythm have a new importance for me now.

Although my health has improved since last year, I still have some physical limitations. The demands of pastoring, even on a part-time or interim basis, are just too much for me right now. But, as they say – "when one door closes, etc, etc, etc..." –

I choose to see closed doors as a challenge to look for other doors, or windows, or even a crack in the wall! And that's what I'm doing.

Once we settled in to our South Carolina home last March, I knew I needed something to do. Mindless scrolling or TV viewing is not how I want to spend my days. So I resurrected my personal blog, tried out a podcast, and wrote a book for Lent with my long-time friend, Jim Stovall. More about the book in a moment. The common theme here is writing, which I can do even with some of my other limitations.

Here at The Rhythm of Grace I'll continue writing a meditation each week for the coming Sunday based on the rhythm of the Christian Year. And, as I mentioned, my new book, The Way of Grace: Gospel Stories for Lent, will be available after New Year's on Amazon in both print and ebook formats. My good friend, Jim Stovall and I co-wrote this Lenten study book, and it will be out in time for you (and your Bible study group) to get your copies for this 7-week study during Lent beginning with Ash Wednesday, March 5.

Debbie has been busy, too! She is still creating art, and she now has a new online art gallery and store, DebbieWarnockStudio.com which will be active soon. You can check it out now, and sign up for email updates. You're going to like what Debbie has created. You'll see some familiar pieces you've admired before, plus lots of new stuff you've never seen.

At DebbieWarnockStudio.com you'll find fine art prints, framed art, children's inspirational prayers Debbie wrote and illustrated, and (coming soon) gifts like mugs, tote bags, and other items, all featuring images of her art.

So that's what we're going to be doing next year! Most of all, Debbie and I want to wish you and your family a heartfelt Happy New Year as 2025 rings in. I hope you'll join us on this adventure. It's going to be a good year and we want you along for the ride!
